Travelogue / Japan
For the longest time, I've been lusting over travelling to Japan. As has with most, I assume, my love for Japan started from spending way too much time reading manga and watching anime. Also, attributing to the fact that I was made in Japan (sorry, tmi), it seemed I was made for Japan. I loved the school uniforms and always wished I grew up wearing those instead of simple, vapid Singaporean ones. The culture is lovely and have I mentioned that I think Japanese is one of the most beautiful languages in the world? And of course, sushi and udon triumphs all.
A few months back, I was absolutely thrilled to have finally talked my parents into taking a family trip to this country I love so much. In all honesty, I was afraid that my high expectations would lead me to a greater disappointment about the country. But even with the fast paced lifestyle, getting packed like sardines in the crowded subway, getting bumped into without receiving an apology and the limited English proficiency (thank heavens I loved the language enough to take Japanese lessons), I know with utmost certainty that I will soon be going back to the land of the rising sun.
Albeit getting lost countless times, staring blankly and all sorts of confused at the subway map, nothing can describe the ambience of busy Japanese streets, getting naked in front of people in a public onsen, the scenery that every corner of Japan can bring, packets after packets of high quality microwave food at 7-eleven and buying a bottle of hot tea from any of the million vending machines in the harsh winds of winter.
Japan, I miss you so much. I can only hope these photos do you justice.
